The book that changed it…

After my first naughty venture into romance and Rosemary Rogers’ The Wanton, most of the romances I read were Harlequins and Silhouettes. They were cheaper, plus the libraries had a ton of them.  When I was still in high school, I could easily read ten books a week (oh those were the days).

It was a library visit that got me hooked on Nora Roberts.  I hadn’t been able to find as many paperbacks as I wanted and I ended up going thru the hardbacks.  I didn’t get as many of them because I rode my bike to the library and five plus miles with a backpack full of hardbacks wasn’t fun.  But I needed books.  I left with Honest Illusions by N.R. and I was hooked.  I wanted every book of hers that I could find and since the library wouldn’t let me keep them, I ended up buying them.

Captivated was one of the first paranormals that I can remember reading.  Man, Nash and Morgana…I love their story.  But I liked Sebastion & Mel and Ana & Boone.   Loved, loved, loved these books.

I think these were the ones that sort of turned the tide for me when it came to paranormals.  Before, if a book had paranormal elements, that was fine, but I didn’t actively seek them out.  Since then???  Paranormals make up about 2/3 of my romance books.

Lately, I’m reading more contemps or suspense but I’m always going to love paranormals. Any books that got you hooked on a certain genre?
