Rainy Day Reads

It rained yesterday.

And I don’t just mean a little.  It rained from the time I left for church with the kids right on up to the time I started getting ready for bed a little after ten.  We had several inches dumped on us, at least.

After church, I came home and made chili…best food ever for a rainy fall Sunday, right?

Then I spent the afternoon reading.

Savor Me Slowly
Savor Me Slowly

The first book I read was: Savor Me Slowly by Gena Showalter.

The blurb:
Mishka Le’Ace was created to be an undercover operative . . . literally. Her beautiful body has been mechanically augmented to give her superhuman strength — strength she’s going to need. Her latest mission sends her to rescue Alien Investigation and Removal agent Jaxon Tremain from torture and death. With him, she discovers a passion unlike any other. A passion she was forbidden to know. . .

From the moment they meet in a darkened cell, Jaxon craves her touch. But the machine half of Le’Ace forces her to do things she doesn’t always want to do. Even betray him . . . and ultimately destroy him. Now Jaxon must battle the man controlling Le’Ace and even Le’Ace herself to at last claim the woman he’s come to love.

This was the first book I think I’ve read by Gena Showalter, but I liked it a lot.  And the cover is awesome.

After I finished it, I went through my old favorites and decided to re-read Heaven, Texas by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.

Heaven, Texas
Heaven, Texas

The blurb:

It’s Gracie Snow’s job as a new motion picture production assistant to get the legendary ex-football player, Bobby Tom Denton, back to his Texas hometown to begin shooting his first movie. Good luck with that. A head-spinning battle of the sexes, with Beauty waging war against Brain—except this male beauty has a fine intelligence…and brainy Gracie isn’t nearly as ordinary as she thinks.

Now this is a re-read.  Which means…it’s a favorite.  I love SEP’s stuff.  I’m torn between this one and Kiss An Angel, my other favorite by her.  I haven’t read several of her newer books, though…hmmm.  Must remedy that.

Rainy days are made for reading. You got anything like to read on a rainy day?
