Under the covers

We’ve been watching Supernatural at our house.  Just started season 2.  Yes, I’m behind, but guys, I did it for you.  If I had started when it first came out, it never would have made it past season 2.  I kill cool tv shows.  I really do.

Anyway, it’s not a show for bratlet, so she’s either in bed or doing homework while we watch.  Last night, she ended up curled on my lap, facing away from the TV and reading The Boxcar Children.

As in…more than half of the book.

I had to chase her into bed.

She pouted.  I had to keep myself from laughing as I told her…

Honey…I’m the last person on earth who will tell you NO MORE READING…but you do need to sleep.

She was up at 6:14 this morning to read.  She finished it and I heard go… OH! MAN!!!!

Then she perked up.  Cuz she had book 2.

I guess we’ll be hitting the library this weekend.  Book 2 is the only other one we have.

I have to wonder if I’m going to have to do flashlight checks before I go to bed though.  I remember when Mom would check on me and catch me reading after bedtime.

I think the first time I got caught doing it was with The Dollhouse Murders…did you ever do that? Get caught with a flashlight under the covers?

  1. My mum was as big a reader as I am and we were always in the library. And yes I was caught in the act!

  2. My dad was always yelling at me to turn my lights off and go to bed, even after I was in college!

  3. I used to leave my bedroom door open so I could read using the landing light. This had the advantage that I could hear my mum/dad coming up the stairs to check on me and my sister and I could hide the book before they came in.
