And I do mean dirty<\/em>, like my old EC books…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’ve got a book releasing from Amazon next week on Kindle & KDP. It was previously only on Kindle Vella but didn’t do all that great – I didn’t do much to promote it, so there’s that, but I’ve had a bunch of stuff going on – as always – and couldn’t keep up with getting chapters out as often as I wanted, so that’s also an issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In May, it will release on other platforms, but I have to allow 30 days before I publish it elsewhere per Vella’s terms.<\/p>\n\n\n

Six months ago, I was bitten by my ex-boyfriend and turned over to his Alpha to cover gambling debts. I survived and escaped. After a mentor took me in and showed me how to live as a werewolf, I sought sanctuary in a small coastal town in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Power smacked me even as the man held up conciliatory hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTruce, little wolf,\u201d he said, slowly backing up several steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I growled, his blood hot and sweet in my mouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI meant no harm.\u201d He hitched up a shrug. \u201cBut you come onto my land and there\u2019s been chaos ever since. The worst isn\u2019t even over. I had to make sure you\u2019d be worth it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I growled again, taking a step toward him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAlright, that was probably rude\u2026\u201d He offered a grin that some might call charming. I wanted to bite it off his face. \u201cBut you have to look at it from my point of view, little wolf. Two of those who\u2019ve lived here the longest have been off their mark ever since you showed up. You go to a grocery store, get sneezed on and when you leave, the mayor hits you with his car\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I snapped my teeth. That hadn\u2019t been my<\/em> fault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He winced. \u201cOkay, the mayor shouldn\u2019t have been texting on his phone, I\u2019ll give you that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019d been being chased<\/em>, but I wouldn\u2019t tell him<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCome on, Grace\u2026shift into your human skin so we can talk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I didn\u2019t want to. My wolf was there with me, and she was strong and I knew I was safe with her. But what choice did I have? None.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Laughing bitterly as my human skin settled in place, I rose and faced him. \u201cProbably <\/em>rude?\u201d I bit off as I arranged my hair to cover as much of me as possible. Unbound, it was long enough to hit my ass so it covered a lot of essentials\u2026just not all of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man in front of me reeked of power, so much of it, my teeth ached, and the few swallows of his blood I\u2019d ingested made me feel lightheaded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIs something about this funny?\u201d he asked, eying me curiously. \u201cI mean, I\u2019m glad you decided to be reasonable and shift so we could have this conversation now rather than later but you didn\u2019t seem amused earlier.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I barked out another harsh laugh and he winced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNone of this is funny,\u201d I said, glaring at him. \u201cNot being forced to shift shape out here naked in front of a stranger. Not having that stranger shove his nose against my crotch in some fucked-up dominance display\u2014none<\/em> of it is funny.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His face took on a stony cast. \u201cI wasn\u2019t threatening you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLive my life and tell me if it\u2019s a threat. You\u2019re such a fucking male<\/em>\u2014telling a woman what is and isn\u2019t a threat to her.\u201d Crossing my arms over my chest, I stared past him and drew in a ragged breath. The air was so thick with his magic, it almost choked me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe that was why I missed their scent until that precise moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Closing my eyes, I swore under my breath. Heat scalded my cheeks. I started to shake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPerhaps you\u2019re right\u2014that was badly done of me. I haven\u2019t had a shapeshifter in my lands in decades\u2026maybe even a couple of centuries. Look\u2026I can help with\u2026\u201d He frowned at me, then glanced over my shoulder. \u201cI can make them leave.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo.\u201d I gave him a tight frown. \u201cI\u2019m<\/em> leaving.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t made my decision.\u201d He narrowed his eyes. \u201cYou know who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYes.\u201d Fixing a blank look on my face, I replied, \u201cAnd I\u2019ve decided I don\u2019t fucking care. If this is the shit I have to put up for sanctuary<\/em>, then I don\u2019t want it<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWait. I know why you\u2019re here.\u201d Something on the man\u2019s face shifted slightly and there was a softening, along with an expression that might have been guilt. \u201cHe won\u2019t stop coming after you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I bared my teeth at him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Behind me, I heard the others\u2026footsteps of two men drawing closer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMaybe I should just let him try.\u201d Then I shifted, the change coming easy, like liquid pouring over my skin. I felt the faint brush of fingers over my shoulder before my form wasn\u2019t mine, but a wolf\u2019s and then I was running, merging with the night to become one with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I sped toward the rocky edge of the beach, I heard furious cursing, then Finn\u2019s shouting out, \u201cDamn it, Grace\u2026can y\u2019 not let me talk to you!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No. I couldn\u2019t. And I didn\u2019t want<\/em> to. I was tired<\/em> of letting people use me, be cruel to me, toss me aside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So. Fucking. Tired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wind whipped around me and a shadow stepped out of the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I recognized the large, lithe form in time only because the eyes burned midnight blue with specks of sunshine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGrace\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I twisted my body, pounced onto the broad, flat surface of a rock and scrambled onto the next, then the next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFuck!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sebastian\u2019s coolly cultured voice shattered the night in a blistering torrent of curses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My wolf and I both smiled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And still, we ran.
