{"id":5263,"date":"2007-08-17T08:00:45","date_gmt":"2007-08-17T08:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shilohwalker.wordpress.com\/2007\/08\/17\/how-to-be-a-pita-author\/"},"modified":"2007-08-17T08:00:45","modified_gmt":"2007-08-17T08:00:45","slug":"how-to-be-a-pita-author","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shilohwalker.com\/website\/2007\/08\/how-to-be-a-pita-author\/","title":{"rendered":"How to be a PITA Author"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>otherwise known as a pain in the a$$.\u00a0 Not connected to the RITA in any way.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nag your editor.\u00a0 Has she read the book yet?\u00a0 Are the edits done?\u00a0 Did the book suck?\u00a0 Why hasn&#8217;t she emailed you back?<\/li>\n<li>Nag your agent.\u00a0 Has she talked to your editor?\u00a0 Did the editor tell your agent that your book sucked?\u00a0 Why hasn&#8217;t she emailed your back?<\/li>\n<li>Nag the cover artist.\u00a0 (FYI, this only works if you&#8217;re on a friendly basis with cover artists and if you know their email.\u00a0 Easier to do this if you&#8217;re with smaller pubs\/epubs)\u00a0 Has he read your cover request?\u00a0 Did it suck?\u00a0 Why hasn&#8217;t he doen the cover yet?<\/li>\n<li>Nag your fellow writer friends.\u00a0 Have they read the book yet?\u00a0 Did it suck?\u00a0 Why haven&#8217;t they read it yet?<\/li>\n<li>Nag yourself.\u00a0 Read the book again.\u00a0 Does it suck&#8230; no, <em>really<\/em> read it this time.\u00a0 Why don&#8217;t you shut up already and get on some Xanax or something?<\/li>\n<li>Nag your crit readers (those understanding, kindly souls who know you need the know the truth, damn it, I can too handle the truth).\u00a0 Have they read the book? It sucked, right?\u00a0 Why haven&#8217;t they emailed me back yet?<\/li>\n<li>Nag the lady in charge of marketing.\u00a0 What is the hell is a marketing plan anyway and why do I need one?\u00a0 Whaddya mean, this is for my benefit&#8230; it&#8217;s stressing me out already.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Nag the nice friend who listened when you griped about doing that particularly stressful bit of work over the weekend.\u00a0 So how far have you read and am I being a crybaby?\u00a0 What do you mean, that other person has a life?\u00a0Whimper&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And the list could go on.\u00a0 And on.
