Sometimes I think writers ought to train as pilots.\u00a0 Pilots get emergency training for crash landings and stuff, right?<\/p>\n
I mean, a crash landing, everything is happening all at once and you have to focus on the major things.\u00a0 Like staying alive.\u00a0 Right?<\/p>\n
When I finish up a book, or I know I’m getting close, I feel like I’m this<\/em> close to landing almost safely.\u00a0 Almost.\u00a0 But not quite.\u00a0 There’s always this fear that the story is going to stall at the last possible second and all that adrenaline and anticipation is going to drain away, leaving me high and dry.<\/p>\n I’m not exactly at the ending of a book right now, but I did just finish the proposal for The Missing<\/em>.\u00a0 I feel like I need to dig out a parachute or something. This is, yet again, another different route for me.\u00a0 I tend to do a lot of paranormals but most of them are in the vampire\/shapeshifter realm and this one isn’t.\u00a0 While Through The Veil<\/em> was another departure for me, it seemed different from this one.\u00a0 Not sure why.\u00a0 Veil<\/em> is sort of urban fantasy, sort of alternate reality and it required a lot of world building.<\/p>\n
