{"id":5117,"date":"2007-03-24T01:41:40","date_gmt":"2007-03-24T01:41:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shilohwalker.wordpress.com\/2007\/03\/24\/the-descent\/"},"modified":"2007-03-24T01:41:40","modified_gmt":"2007-03-24T01:41:40","slug":"the-descent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shilohwalker.com\/website\/2007\/03\/the-descent\/","title":{"rendered":"The Descent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/imdb.com\/title\/tt0435625\/\" title=\"descent.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" align=\"left\" src=\"http:\/\/shilohwalker.files.wordpress.com\/2007\/03\/descent.jpg?w=1170\" alt=\"descent.jpg\" \/><\/a><em>Pic found at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/imdb.com\/title\/tt0435625\/\">IMDB<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t decide if I liked this movie or not.<\/p>\n<p>FYI, spoilers coming so if you want to see it and don&#8217;t like spoilers, come back and talk after you watched it.<\/p>\n<p>The main characters, Sarah and Juno, are big into adventure stuff.\u00a0 Great friends, they do the white water rafting, caving things, <em>if there&#8217;s no risk, there&#8217;s no point<\/em>.\u00a0 That seems to be their motto.\u00a0 Then Sarah suffers a major loss.\u00a0 In a freak accident her husband and little girl are killed.\u00a0 <em>I really hated that part<\/em>.\u00a0 Car accident, nothing to do with the scary stuff, although that scene in itself is pretty gory.<\/p>\n<p>Year goes by and Juno tries to get Sarah back into things.\u00a0 She&#8217;s feeling really guilty and I already figured out why in the opening scene.\u00a0 She was getting it on with her friend&#8217;s hubby.\u00a0 Bad bad girl&#8230; BIg group of friends get together and\u00a0they go to this cave, and unknown to all but Juno, is completely unexplored.\u00a0 They get stuck when there is a collapse in the one tunnel that leads back to the entrance cavern.\u00a0 Monsters lurking in the shadows, people die, two or three or four might make it out, but things start happening.\u00a0 Somehow Sarah learns about what Juno was doing with her husband back before he was killed.\u00a0 She has the chance to get out, so does Juno and this is where I started to really not like it.\u00a0 Up until this point, I was doing okay.<\/p>\n<p>BUT&#8230;Sarah basically feeds Juno to the monsters.\u00a0 Literally.\u00a0 Now don&#8217;t get me wrong.\u00a0 I love my husband and I&#8217;d hurt anybody that ever tried to mess around with him.\u00a0 But I wouldn&#8217;t feed anybody to some monster lurking in the dark and she did it in a most gruesome way.\u00a0 Yeah, bad things beget bad things and if Juno hadn&#8217;t been screwing with her friend&#8217;s hubby, wouldn&#8217;t have happened.\u00a0 But I don&#8217;t by into the one bad turn deserves another.\u00a0 If that&#8217;s the way the world worked, there would be nothing good in it.\u00a0 And isn&#8217;t that a depressing way to look at it?\u00a0 I guess that&#8217;s why I like romance.\u00a0 Always a happy ending.<\/p>\n<p>This movie?\u00a0 Nope.\u00a0 No happy ending.\u00a0Ends with Sarah hallucinating, or dreaming, about her little girl in the cave with her.\u00a0 Happy.\u00a0 Maybe that was the happy ending for her, but seeing as how she basically murdered somebody&#8230; oye.<\/p>\n<p>Nope.\u00a0 That settles it.
