Sound good?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In case you weren&#8217;t around over the weekend, I&#8217;ve got a wicked cool contest-Ilona Andrews gave me a few copies of Magic Bleeds to give away.\u00a0 She dared her readers to crash my server-so far, they haven&#8217;t had any luck.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/shilohwalker.wordpress.com\/2010\/05\/16\/i-have-surprises-magic-bleeds-contest\/\" target=\"_blank\">Go here to enter<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/jeanienefrost.com\/2010\/05\/advice-for-writers-or-everything-jeaniene-knows-about-getting-published\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jeanine Frost compiled a list of a bunch of questions<\/a> she&#8217;s been on asked on being published-there is <em>no<\/em> subsititute for doing your own research, but sometimes, if you have an idea where to start, it does help.\u00a0 Maybe this will give you an idea.<\/li>\n<li>Lynn Viehl has a <a href=\"http:\/\/pbackwriter.blogspot.com\/2010\/05\/support-pbw-ten.html\" target=\"_blank\">&#8216;Support PBW 10<\/a>&#8216; list up&#8230; as in why you should buy her next book Dreamveil.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve got the only reason I need&#8230; <strong>she wrote it<\/strong>.\u00a0 BTW, I read Dreamveil and it&#8217;s like&#8230; oh, man&#8230; I&#8217;ve dubbed her the queen of weird and awesome.\u00a0 Read it.\u00a0 Read it.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/pbackwriter.blogspot.com\/2010\/05\/for-fun.html\" target=\"_blank\">Thanks to Lynn and her thousand ways of always finding fun links<\/a>, I&#8217;ve discovered the paranormal romance plot generator&#8230; it comes up with things like:\n<ul>\n<li>On a misty spaceport, an optimistic lawyer falls for a wizard.<br \/>\nBut the wizard is in love with a bitter horse. Her mouth opened in a silent scream and Xan felt his heart twist inside his chest. Dipping his head, he nuzzled her neck and whispered, \u201cSyn, come back to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Where was she?<\/p>\n<p>What dreams held her so thoroughly trapped?<\/p>\n<p>And then she was awake, a harsh gasp slipping free. She struggled to break away from him, sucking in air as though starved for it. Xan let her go, watched as she sat up on the side of the narrow bunk, her head lowered, her naked spine bowed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou dreamed,\u201d he said softly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stroking a hand down her back, he asked, \u201cCan you talk about it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She glanced at him over her shoulder, her narrow face grim. \u201cIt\u2019s over. Was just a dream.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Xan sat up and settled himself behind her, drawing her still-trembling body into the curve of his own. He wrapped an arm around her, pressed his palm flat against her belly. He used his other hand to wipe away the tears on her face. \u201cYou cry. You fought. You wouldn\u2019t wake up. It was more than just a dream, Syn.\u201d Pressing his lips to her shoulder, he murmured, \u201cTell me. Let me help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Please . . . please, let me help.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>She sighed and another shudder wracked her body. \u201cIt was about the night my mother was taken from me,\u201d she murmured. Shaking her head, she added, \u201cI don\u2019t like thinking about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe night she was taken,\u201d he echoed. \u201cIn a raid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes. We had a hidden room . . . no surprise, I guess. Most homes, especially those near a Gate, have places to hide. Mama put me and my brother in there. We wanted her to come in, but she wouldn\u2019t\u2014we had neighbors. They were like family. She insisted on checking on them. But the Sirvani were too close. They caught her.\u201d She leaned her head back against his shoulder and murmured, \u201cWe could hear her screaming. Through the walls. We heard her screaming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Xan stared down at her, his heart aching. Automatically, he moved his head so that his hair fell and hid most of the scarred half of his face. \u201cYou were in that little room\u2014hidden\u2014alone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She looked at him. \u201cMy brother was with me. He was thirteen. But yes. We were alone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sorry.\u201d Sorry . . . half- sick, furious. Sorry didn\u2019t even cover what he felt.<\/p>\n<p>Her mouth twisted in a grimace and she shrugged, \u201cIt\u2019s not an unusual story. Most of us have lost people close to us, because of a raid. Haven\u2019t you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d He turned his head, staring out the narrow window set high along the wall.
