Even if you&#8217;ve already bought it, you might wanna think about buying it again-buying it gets you multiple entries, and this is a <\/em><em><strong>nice prize<\/strong>&#8230; The contest will be open across the globe and it won&#8217;t matter to me if you buy it through Samhain&#8217;s store, Amazon, the Nook store, Sony&#8230;as long as it&#8217;s a legit etailer and you follow the contest rules.  And did I mention&#8230;it&#8217;s a <\/em><strong><em>nice prize.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>No Longer Mine has been revised-a lot.  Re-edited.  A lot.  I think it&#8217;s a better, cleaner read this time around.  And pretty, pretty new cover&#8230; *G*<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And to help count down the days, I&#8217;ll be posting some excerpts between now and release day, 4\/27\/10<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\">\n<figure style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/samhainpublishing.com\/authors\/shiloh-walker\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/samhainpublishing.com\/graphics\/1453.jpg?resize=200%2C300\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">No Longer Mine<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI love you,\u201d he whispered. \u201cI never expected to see you again. But I\u2019ve always known that I\u2019d go to my grave loving you. Can you tell me that you don\u2019t feel the same?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To the grave\u2026 His words echoed over in her head. Hell, yes, she\u2019d die loving him. She had already been to the edge once though, because of his love. She wouldn\u2019t ever let herself get that way again.<\/p>\n<p>Nikki\u2019s eyes slid shut and she turned her head, the smooth sweep of hair hiding her face from him. \u201cWhat I feel for you is not what I felt eight years ago. Or even five years ago,\u201d she murmured, her throat burning. Gathering her courage, she turned her head, met his eyes and said, \u201cThings change, Wade. Feelings can change. Especially when somebody rips your heart out of your chest and smashes it. It makes it much easier for feelings to change. Or disappear altogether.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Damn you, Wade,<\/em> she thought half-hysterically. <em>Just leave. Now. Before I fall apart. <\/em>Nikki knew damn well there was no way she was going to be able to keep her distance if he kept this up.<\/p>\n<p>Cupping her cheek in his hand, he asked softly, \u201cDo you really expect me to believe that you feel nothing for me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt really doesn\u2019t matter what you believe, Wade. It only matters what I believe,\u201d Nikki stated simply. She forced a sympathetic smile when sympathy for him was the last thing she felt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPoor Wade,\u201d she clucked, shaking her head. \u201cYou lose a silly little girl who adored you and gained a wife who only wanted to own you. Once she had you, she probably didn\u2019t even know what to do with you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ducking out of his arms, she moved a few feet away, sliding him a sly glance from under her lashes. \u201cHow was your vapid little bride, Wade? Did she keep you happy?\u201d<br \/>\nThe porch light illuminated his face enough for Nikki to watch his jaw clench and his eyes narrow. But he continued to stand there like he had no intention of ever leaving. \u201cNow the wife\u2019s gone and you think you can get that silly girl back.\u201d Nikki moved closer to him and gently patted his cheek like he was a five-year-old child.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a pity that you just can\u2019t accept the fact that silly girl doesn\u2019t exist any more. Even more pitiful is the fact that I would have been anything you wanted me to be, given up anything, become anything,\u201d she whispered passionately. \u201cLife\u2019s not very fair, is it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNice try, Nikki,\u201d he said, his voice hollow. \u201cI\u2019m very impressed. You can be quite the bitch when you want.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve developed a number of talents over the years,\u201d she said calmly, even though her heart was pounding away within her chest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously. You never used to lie so well.\u201d He caught her chin in his hand and arched her face up to his, lowering his mouth until not even air separated her lips from his. And he hung there, waiting, for a long moment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFortunately,\u201d Wade whispered, his breath fanning across her face. \u201cI don\u2019t give up that easily.
