Booksigning mishaps. They happen.<\/p>\n

Once I signed the wrong name.\u00a0 Yep.<\/p>\n

On rare ocassion, I’ve spelled the reader’s name wrong, which is why I try to have people spell their name out for me.<\/p>\n

But at last year, I had the signing mishap to end ALL signing mishaps.\u00a0 This should win me a prize, I swear.<\/p>\n

It was at the Lori Foster\/Dianne Castell’s Reader & Writer Get Together.\u00a0 There’s a lot of ‘free time’…just walking around, hanging out, talking.\u00a0 I was doing just that, walking around and a reader came up, asked if I’d sign CHAINS<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We were talking. This was the first mistake. (I shouldn’t CHAT while I’m actively SIGNING the book)<\/p>\n

I’d probably had a glass of wine, or a rum and coke.\u00a0 This was the second mistake.<\/p>\n

I was also supremely stressed, because I’d just gotten a phone call about my daredevil that damn near turned my hair gray…WHERE I STOOD…now this wasn’t my mistake-out of my control, but still.<\/p>\n

So.\u00a0 My brain wasn’t entirely…focused.<\/p>\n

Halfway through signing, I stopped.<\/p>\n

I closed the book.\u00a0 Looked at the reader and said, “Um.\u00a0 I just signed your book badly.”<\/p>\n

She just blinked and said… “What?”<\/p>\n

I started apologizing, profusely.\u00a0 Very profusely.\u00a0 Then I told her what I’d written.\u00a0 She burst out laughing.\u00a0 It tickled her to death.<\/p>\n

She snatches the book away and I try to get it back, saying I’d get a new one. Nope. She insists on keeping it.<\/p>\n

I’m mortified.<\/p>\n

However, she’s just tickled pink.<\/p>\n

Wanna know how I signed it?<\/p>\n

In my defense, I’d probably been thinking about beating my son.\u00a0 Or maybe I was thinking about the BDSM elements in the first novella of CHAINS.\u00a0 I dunno.<\/p>\n
