I wasn\u2019t even a man when I took a\nlife for the first time, although you couldn\u2019t say I was a child. If I\u2019d ever\nhad a childhood, it hadn\u2019t lasted long. My father, may he rot in hell, had seen\nto that. I took his life as well and that, too, happened before I was old\nenough to be considered a grown man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I never regretted it for a second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That path almost led to my own\ngrave, and would have, if I hadn\u2019t stumbled across somebody who was as\ndifferent from my father as day was from night. Sarge had seen the monster\nlurking inside, so he took control, gave me guidelines, rules, so I wouldn\u2019t be\nthe monster my father had planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It worked. I restrained the worst of\nmy rage and honed the skills that had been drilled into me\u2014theft, stealth\u2026\nassassination. The broken child ceased to exist and I became Spectre, an\nassassin spoken of in whispers, hired to take out the worst of humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then I was sent to kill her<\/em>\u2026and\nmy world came to a screeching halt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tia<\/em><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s taken a long time, but I\nfinally had a nice, steady routine. I stopped trying to conform to the\nneurotypicals of the world and found my own<\/em> normal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Normal went out the window when I\nwalked into my kitchen and found a strange (hot<\/em><\/strong>), dangerous\nlooking (so fricking hot<\/em><\/strong>) man drugging my new dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It probably wasn\u2019t the smartest\nthing to leap at him like a banshee and attack, but that\u2019s what I did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SORIN: He is Zmeu, one of the great dragons of myth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a lesson Sorin takes to heart. He might have had a mortal mother, but mortals had also killed her, leaving him alone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
