\u201cFine,\u201d he muttered.\u00a0 \u201cStupid bitch ain\u2019t worth my time anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n

A cold smile curled Kelsey lips and she said, \u201cI\u2019m sorry.\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t here.\u00a0 I don\u2019t mean leave this room. I mean, get out.<\/em> As in out of my school.\u201d<\/p>\n

Neal blinked.\u00a0 Look from Kelsey\u2019s face to Malachi, then at Ana and Brad.\u00a0 \u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelsey repeated, \u201cGet out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOver that bitch?\u00a0 You can\u2019t fucking trust her.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody, and I mean, nobody<\/span><\/em> lays a hand on a woman or a child in my school for any fucking reason.\u00a0 Unless of course she was attacking you\u2026tell me, Neal, did she attack you?\u00a0 Is that why you touched her?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t trust her,\u201d Neal snarled.\u00a0 \u201cYou can\u2019t trust her kind\u2014she\u2019ll turn on us.\u00a0 She\u2019s done it once.\u201d\u00a0 He jerked a chin towards Duke.<\/p>\n

Ana\u2019s skin crawled with shame.\u00a0 Automatically, she tightened her arms and Brad reached up, patted her hand.<\/p>\n

But nobody was looking at them.\u00a0 Or at Duke.\u00a0 They were staring at the exchange between Kelsey and Neal with fascination.\u00a0 \u201cNo, Neal.\u00a0 We can\u2019t trust your<\/span><\/em> kind.\u00a0 You\u2019re not one of us\u2026and you never were.\u201d<\/p>\n

Neal paled.\u00a0 Something flashed through his eyes.\u00a0 \u201cI am<\/span><\/em> one of you.\u00a0 I\u2019m here, aren\u2019t I?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou were brought here to train\u2014but not to be a Hunter.\u00a0 You were brought here to learn control.\u00a0 Non-mortals can pose a danger\u2014our job is to limit that danger.\u00a0 We do that through teaching, through training.\u00a0 That<\/span><\/em> was why you were brought here\u2014never think otherwise.\u201d\u00a0 Kelsey gave him a dismissive look and then turned her back.<\/p>\n

Neal jerked away from Dominic and stalked across the room, placing himself in front of Kelsey.\u00a0 \u201cThis is fucked up, lady.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t hurt her\u2014hell, I didn\u2019t hurt that little punk, either.\u00a0 I wouldn\u2019t hurt a kid.\u201d\u00a0 He sent Ana and Brad a furious look, one that scalded her and left her almost ill with all the hatred she felt coming from him.<\/p>\n
