Ignoring Brad, Neal lifted a hand and stroked Ana\u2019s cheek.\u00a0 \u201cI keep hearing how much you\u2019re into blood\u2026why don\u2019t you\u2014oomph\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

Ana felt it, a punch of psychic energy, blasting through the air.\u00a0 She grabbed Brad as Neal went flying backward and crashed into one of the glass-fronted media cabinets.\u00a0 Glass, DVDs, and CDs exploded around him at the impact and he fell to the floor\u2014seconds later he was up, moving quicker than the eye could track.<\/p>\n

She felt the punch of Brad\u2019s power again and she shook him, distracted him for just a second, long enough for the swell of power to fade.\u00a0 \u201cBrad, stop.\u00a0 Now<\/span><\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

He shrugged her off and squared off with the vampire.\u00a0 Once, whenever he used a power display like that, it would show on his face, in his eyes as he pushed his limits.\u00a0 The nosebleeds had stopped more than two years ago, and Ana wondered if just how far those limits had expanded.\u00a0 She sure as hell didn\u2019t want to find out now<\/span><\/em>, though.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou little fuck, I\u2019m gonna knock the shit out of you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ana whirled and glared at him.\u00a0 \u201cThe hell you will!\u201d\u00a0 She might be a coward, but nobody threatened her baby brother.<\/p>\n

He sneered at her.\u00a0 \u201cGet out of my way, bitch\u2014you know you want to.\u00a0 Weak-assed bitch.\u201d<\/p>\n

From the depths of the room, people started to stir.<\/p>\n

\u201cNeal, back off\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCome on, man\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBacking off sounds like a damn good idea.\u201d Bradley shoved around her, once more planting his skinny butt in front of her, protecting her\u2014damn it, she <\/span><\/em>was supposed to protect him.\u00a0 It was her job, one she failed at, miserably.<\/p>\n
