And that was the bitch of it all, because even if Duke wanted to pretend he didn\u2019t want the pretty blonde psychic with the sad, purple eyes and hesitant smile, his body said otherwise.\u00a0 Above the other scents in the room, the scents of life, coffee, food, the lotions a lot of the women loved to rub into their skin, he could smell her.\u00a0 Smell Ana.<\/p>\n

He could smell himself, smell the need on him.\u00a0 Knowing how fucking bad he wanted her didn\u2019t make it any easier to look at her, though.\u00a0 He looked at her and saw how fucking foolish he\u2019d been, how damn gullible.\u00a0 How pathetic.<\/p>\n

Not again.\u00a0 He could want her until hell froze over, but that didn\u2019t mean he\u2019d give in.<\/p>\n

Across the pool table, he met Dominic\u2019s level stare.\u00a0 Then, without saying anything, he hurled his cue stick down and stalked out of the room.<\/p>\n

She felt his passing like a hot, angry wind, blasting against her shields, snaking through the minute cracks and scalding her.<\/p>\n

People were watching her\u2014she felt it as she left the library.\u00a0 She didn\u2019t want to, but she couldn\u2019t just stay in the library forever either, which meant she had to go back the way she\u2019d come.<\/p>\n

Should have just dealt with the rain and gone to the main library.\u00a0 Stupid, stupid, stupid.<\/em><\/p>\n
