Dominic snorted.\u00a0 \u201cWell, hell.\u00a0 She\u2019s got a lot in common with me, already.\u201d\u00a0 He braced his pool stick on the ground and watched as Ana made her way through the people, heading for the small library tucked off to the side of the rec room.<\/p>\n

The rec room was crowded, but for a rainy Saturday evening, that was to be expected.<\/p>\n

All too aware of the vampire\u2019s interest, Duke focused on the pool table.\u00a0 The edgy, twitchy sensation in his gut expanded and he shot a dirty look at the window.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t mind water.\u00a0 But he hated getting drenched and if he shifted in that downpour, he\u2019d end up soaked to the bone.<\/p>\n

He needed to shift, though.\u00a0 Had to do something to release the edgy, nagging tension that had been building inside him over the past few weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know her?\u201d<\/p>\n

Duke lined up his shot and took it before straightening and meeting Dominic\u2019s gaze.\u00a0 \u201cThere\u2019s close to five hundred students in this school\u2014you think I know them all?\u201d<\/p>\n

Dominic shrugged.\u00a0 \u201cWell, you know her well enough to say she shouldn\u2019t be here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duke could have bit his tongue off.\u00a0 Yeah.\u00a0 He had said that.\u00a0 \u201cHer name\u2019s Ana.\u00a0 She\u2019s a psychic, here to get that under control, not because she\u2019s Hunter material.\u201d<\/p>\n

Running his tongue over his teeth, Dominic cocked his head, watched as she disappeared through the doors leading to one of the numerous libraries.\u00a0 \u201cShe\u2019s cute\u2014blonde.\u00a0 Shit, I love blondes.\u00a0 And I bet she\u2019s blonde all over\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

She was\u2014a memory he\u2019d tried damn hard to forget came rushing up, the night she\u2019d suckered him in, on the trunk of her car.\u00a0 He\u2019d followed her out there, didn\u2019t bother to tell his partner he was heading out, too focused on the woman and the hunger he scented coming from her.\u00a0 Too focused, too impatient to wait, once they\u2019d reached her car, he pulled her against him and kissed her, deaf, dumb and blind to everything but her.<\/p>\n
