She stood in the doorway, oddly apart from everybody else even as she studied them, eyes moving to linger on a group here, then there.\u00a0 After a couple of moments, she moved away and he found himself tracking her progress.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t be here to meet somebody<\/em>, he thought and immediately, he wanted to kick himself.\u00a0 What did it matter if she was?<\/p>\n

He told himself it didn\u2019t and glanced up at Gary Harnett settled down and ordered his usual.\u00a0 Ian started to build the Guinness as they chatted, but the entire time, he watched her from the corner of his eye.<\/p>\n

She moved like a dancer, effortless grace and easy elegance.\u00a0 He could imagine those legs, long and slim, wrapped around his waist, could picture that torso\u2014just as long and slim\u2014bent back as he leaned over to press his mouth to pale, soft skin.<\/p>\n

Gary said, \u201cThey say it\u2019s going to break a hundred again tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cImagine it will,\u201d Ian murmured, the easy chatter second nature and in his mind, he continued to mentally undress the redhead.<\/p>\n

She slid onto a vacant stool tucked up against the wall just as he finished Gary\u2019s Guinness and Ian was took a moment to appreciate the fact that he had a heavy, solid bar between the two of them, because thanks to his wandering mind, his bloody cock was hard as iron and pulsing.<\/p>\n

She looked at him then, her mouth unsmiling, but wide and soft and lush.<\/p>\n

Fuck me<\/em>.<\/p>\n

He rested his hands on the bar and smiled.\u00a0 You\u2019ve a job to do, so do it<\/em>.<\/p>\n

He opened his mouth.<\/p>\n

A faint smile flirted around her lips and a hot ball of lust twisted inside, settling down low in his balls.\u00a0 Mad.\u00a0 He\u2019d gone mad\u2014that\u2019s all there was to it.<\/p>\n

She nodded toward the Guinness he\u2019d just finished and said, \u201cI\u2019ll have one of those.\u201d<\/p>\n

He nodded. Self-preservation told him to move his arse and get to work.<\/p>\n

He told self-preservation to get fucked as he got to work on her Guinness.\u00a0 As he did, four more orders came in and he filled three of them before her Guinness was ready.\u00a0 By the time he had another minute to breathe, she had folded her hands around her glass and was studying everything around her, almost mesmerized.<\/p>\n

\u201cVisiting?\u201d<\/p>\n

She blinked, a startled look in her eyes.\u00a0 Her gaze slid away.\u00a0 \u201cDepends on your point of view.\u201d\u00a0 Then she flashed him a wide smile.<\/p>\n

It was disarming, that smile, bright and wicked, the kind of smile a temptress would give a saint to lure him into all manners of sin.<\/p>\n

Ian was many things\u2014a saint had never been one of them.\u00a0 As she propped her elbows on the bar, he found himself easing closer. \u201cI\u2019m here for\u2026personal things, but that\u2019s for later,\u201d she said, lifting her shoulder in a shrug.\u00a0 \u201cTonight\u2026?\u00a0 Tonight I\u2019m just trying to not think.\u201d<\/p>\n

I can help you with that<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The words popped into his brain and they almost escaped his lips.<\/p>\n

He managed to keep them trapped inside, but one thing he couldn\u2019t do was keep his eyes off that mouth.<\/p>\n

She noticed, too.\u00a0 He could tell by the hitch in her breathing, the way her pulse slammed against the fragile wall of her throat.\u00a0 Curious, he reached out and pressed a finger against it.<\/p>\n

He could very well be doing the stupidest thing he\u2019d ever done.<\/p>\n

Her lids drooped and her head slumped, angling slightly to the side.\u00a0 He skimmed his finger down lower, tracing the elegant line of her collarbone.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019ve had days like that,\u201d he said softly.\u00a0 \u201cDays where the last place I want to be is inside my own head.\u201d<\/p>\n

He lowered his hand.<\/p>\n

She lifted her head and met his gaze dead-on.<\/p>\n

He started to turn away.<\/p>\n
