I don’t think we could have gotten a better model for Keelie had Keelie herself stepped right off the page.<\/span><\/p>\n

And yeah, Zane looks pretty much like Zane should, too. \u00a0But Keelie was going to be a\u00a0much<\/span> harder match.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cZane?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He lifted his head, saw the expression in her eyes.\u00a0 Doubt, need. The doubt\u2026fuck, he\u2019d have to figure out how to handle that.\u00a0 The need\u2026that would lay him low.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lowering his mouth to Keelie\u2019s, he caught her lower lip between his teeth.\u00a0 Tugged.\u00a0 \u201cOpen,\u201d he said against her lips.<\/span><\/p>\n

Slow, <\/em>he told himself again, practically screaming it.\u00a0 Bracing one fisted hand against the wall, he covered her mouth with his own, shuddered as she arched against him.\u00a0 Sensation raced through him from head to toe as she sucked lightly at his tongue.<\/span><\/p>\n

He nudged her thighs wide, settled more firmly against her.<\/span><\/p>\n

A tremor rippled through her body, the long slim body he held against his own.\u00a0 Zane fought the urge to pull away and tear every last shred of her clothes away from her.<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead, he slid one hand under the hem of the skimpy red thing she probably called a sweater and felt the smooth silk of her skin against his palm.\u00a0 She shivered a little as he stroked higher and when he pulled back, she made a disappointed sound against his lips.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lifting his head, he looked down her, absently reaching up to nudge his glasses into place.\u00a0 Then he cupped her cheek in his hand.\u00a0 Her lashes drooped low, shielding her gaze.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat are we doing?\u201d he asked, his voice gruff.<\/span><\/p>\n

Does it matter? Get back to doing it.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The problem was, it mattered way too much.<\/span><\/p>\n

That slow flushed crept up her neck and now, standing this close to her, he could that it started down low\u2014if he had to make a bet, he\u2019d imagine it started low down on the delicate slopes of her breasts and crept ever higher.\u00a0 He wanted to have her naked in front of him so he could tease just to see that blush pinked her breasts, her neck, right before he kissed her again.<\/span><\/p>\n

For a moment, he didn\u2019t think she\u2019d answer and then she angled her chin up, met his eyes dead-on with that cocky attitude she so often showed everybody.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIsn\u2019t it kind of obvious?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He pressed his thumb to the wide, soft curve of her lower lip.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eyes on that curve, he said, \u201cSo\u2026what?\u00a0 You here looking for a quick fuck, Keelie?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She jerked, tried to pull away.<\/span><\/p>\n

He didn\u2019t let her, leaning his weight more heavily against her although he knew full well he might be tasting his balls, bloody and broken, in his throat in a moment.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBack off,\u201d she bit off.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNo.\u201d He dipped his head, rubbed his lips against hers and when she averted her head, his just skimmed them along her lip.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m just trying to see the picture that\u2019s so obvious for you. I mean, I\u2019ve been trying to get you to go out with me for\u2026hell, three years now, if I remember right.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Three years.\u00a0 Eight month. Two weeks? <\/em>Not that he was counting, really.<\/span><\/p>\n

When she did nothing, said nothing, just watched him with those inscrutable eyes of blue and brown, he leaned in and buried his face against her hair.\u00a0 Black and white again, the chunks of black framing her face.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s this obvious thing I\u2019m missing, Keelie?\u201d he asked.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then his eyes just about crossed, because instead of outright answering, she twined long, long legs around him and arched, pressing the heat of her sex against him and rocked.\u00a0 \u201cThis\u2026\u201d That pink flush rode her cheeks, hotter now, brighter, while her eyes practically glittered at him.\u00a0 \u201cThis.\u00a0 Isn\u2019t it obvious what\u2019s going on?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Zane couldn\u2019t help it.\u00a0 He caught her hips in his hands, his fingers digging into the curve of her ass as he leaned into her and rocked against her, hard, fast.\u00a0 Once, twice.<\/span><\/p>\n

She shuddered and met him.\u00a0 And when he stopped, she whimpered.<\/span><\/p>\n

He slid a hand up, closed it over her throat.\u00a0 The mad beat of her pulse against his palm drove him insane.\u00a0 He wanted to cover that fragile bit of skin with his mouth and bite down, suck on her skin until she shivered and whispered his name.<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead, he said, \u201cThere are a lot of names for what this is.\u00a0 A quick fuck, like I mentioned.\u00a0 Keelie, that\u2019s easy and either one of us can get it anyway.\u00a0 I\u2019ll be honest\u2026that\u2019s not what I want from you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She stiffened in his arms, the long, strong legs she\u2019d wrapped around him easing down until she was standing on her feet before him.\u00a0 He already missed the solid warmth of her weight.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her voice, when it came, was hard and flat.\u00a0 \u201cFine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Humiliation burned in her.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rejection turned her blood to ice while her skin shrank down about two sizes too small.<\/span><\/p>\n

She wanted to sink into the floorboards, turn into something thin and vaporous so she could just disappear.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pushing against his chest, she focused on the navy blue polo.\u00a0 \u201cThen how about you let me go, huh?\u00a0 My mistake.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The hand on her throat didn\u2019t move.<\/span><\/p>\n

It should have felt threatening.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the feel of him touching her just made her melt that much more\u2026and it was now a heavy ache inside because he\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n

His lips brushed her ear.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou want to know what I want from you?\u201d he asked, the words velvet, stroking over her like a caress.<\/span><\/p>\n

Keelie closed her hands into fists to keep from reaching for him. He was messing with her.\u00a0 It pissed her off\u2014and, to her disgust, it hurt.\u00a0 It almost felt like a betrayal, too, because she hadn\u2019t expected to see this in Zane.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBack off,\u201d she warned, putting an edge into her voice and preparing herself to make<\/em> him back off.\u00a0 So what if he had some moves on him?\u00a0 He hadn\u2019t seen her<\/em> moves yet.\u00a0 Not really.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI want\u2026\u201d He slid his hand down from her throat, to rest on her chest, fingers spread wide where it rested above her heart.\u00a0 \u201cThis.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The simplicity of the gesture stunned her into passivity.<\/span><\/p>\n

She held still as he lifted his head and stared down at her.<\/span><\/p>\n

She blinked, not moving, as he continued to stand there, his hand on her chest.\u00a0 \u201cI want five minutes of your time\u2026over a cup of coffee.\u00a0 A hour for lunch.\u00a0 I want you to pick up the phone when I call, talk with me for while,\u201d he said, staring into her eyes while the blue-green of his gaze cut into her.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then he leaned in and pressed a hot, open-mouthed kiss to her chest, just above the neckline of her sweater.\u00a0 \u201cI want to peel your clothes away, learn each and every one of these insanely sexy tattoos\u2026each tattoo, and the reason behind them.\u00a0 I want to know what makes you laugh, and I want to know what makes you mad.\u00a0 I want to know what sort of book you\u2019re reading whenever I\u2019m in the office\u2014I\u2019ve asked, but you always toss it down when I walk by and you never answer me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

His breath was a caress on her flesh and she broke out into goosebumps.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her heart raced in her chest and she couldn\u2019t even begin to understand why there was a knot in her chest.<\/span><\/p>\n
