\nShe blinked, her gaze blank.
\nHe braced himself, uncertain what she might say. So far, he\u2019d face everything from cautious optimism to outright skepticism.
\nKeelie stared at him for a long moment and then, a smile bowed her lips. \u201cWell. It\u2019s about damn time.\u201d
\nThe calm, easy confidence in those words hit him like a bolt. Straight to the chest. He sucked in a breath, kept it steady out of sheer force of well. \u201cHey, I figured I\u2019ve screwed around long enough.\u201d
\n\u201cYou made the move on your own time.\u201d She shrugged, looking more at ease.
\n\u201cThat\u2019s how I roll.\u201d He watched as she toyed with the sleeve on her coffee cup. \u201cKeelie?\u201d
\nShe shot him a look. \u201cYeah?\u201d
\nThis time, he didn\u2019t give her a chance to prepare. He closed the distance, caught her lower lip between his teeth. \u201cI\u2019ve asked about two hundred times, I figure. Maybe this time you\u2019ll say yes.\u201d
\nSay yes\u2026she stared at him, blood rushing, all but humming in her veins. And her mouth burned from that teasing, not-quite-kiss.
\nHe hadn\u2019t even asked and she was ready to say yes.
\n\u201cYou free for dinner tonight?\u201d
\nA fist settled in her chest. She had to force the words out around it. \u201cI think maybe we can do dinner.\u201d
\n\u201cGood. Then I can do this.\u201d
\nHer heart started to stutter as he slowly, oh, so slowly, kissed her.
\nIt absolutely wasn\u2019t the kind of kiss he should be doing in the middle of a coffee shop, she thought. Because it was the kind of kiss that made her want, made her crave for so much more.
\nAnd then, all thought ceased and all she could do was curl as close to him as she could possibly get. It really wasn\u2019t close enough.<\/p>\n
