\u201cThat was mean, and stupid,\u201d she said, the words rushing out of her.\u00a0 \u201cI don\u2019t know why I said it. I\u2019m never going to learn to think\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u2019d like to think he did it just to make her stop kicking herself.<\/p>\n

But Guy would have given his left arm to have the chance to kiss her again.\u00a0 And there she was, tears blurring her beautiful green-gold eyes, while the self-doubt and self-anger built inside her.<\/p>\n

Because he hated seeing it, he caught her face in his hands and cut off her words by pressing his lips to hers.\u00a0 \u201cNo,\u201d he murmured as she stumbled to a halt, her lips still moving slightly against his as she sucked in a breath.\u00a0 \u201cJust no, Tink, okay?\u201d<\/p>\n

He went to pull away.<\/p>\n

Her hands came up, fisted in the lapels of his suit.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo that again,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

He stared at her.<\/p>\n

\u201cChris . . .\u201d<\/p>\n

She licked her lips, her gaze locked on his mouth.\u00a0 \u201cThere\u2019s been nothing but noise in my head most of the day.\u00a0 I\u2019ve told you what it\u2019s like.\u00a0 Usually I can turn it down or tune it out better than this, but not today.\u00a0 When you\u2019re touching me, it\u2019s better.\u201d<\/p>\n

She eased back in and pressed her lips to his again.\u00a0 \u201cDo it again.\u00a0 But really kiss me.\u201d<\/p>\n

He tangled his fist in her hair.\u00a0 \u201cChris, we said we weren\u2019t doing this anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDoes that mean you don\u2019t want me?\u201d she whispered, easing back just enough to touch her fingers to his lips.<\/p>\n

That light touch was a torturous pleasure, one that went flying through him, straight down to his cock, drawing his balls tight while he fought the urge to grab her dress, pull it up, and just bury himself inside her.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot want you . . .\u201d He closed his eyes, struggled to think for just a blessed minute. \u201cWant<\/em> has nothing on how I feel.\u00a0 But you need to be sure this is<\/em> what you want.\u00a0 What you really want.\u201d\u00a0 He dipped his head but instead of pressing his mouth to hers, he angled her head back and pressed his mouth to the delicate notch between her collarbone, felt the soft gasp fall from her.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s not just something you\u2019re doing to kill the hours before you can sleep.\u00a0 It\u2019s not something you\u2019ll regret in the morning.\u00a0 You regretted it last time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t.\u201d\u00a0 She slid her hands up, her fingers biting into his shoulders through the layers of clothes.\u00a0 \u201cI didn\u2019t regret it. It was just . . .\u201d She shook her head.\u00a0 \u201cYou\u2019re making me think too much but it wasn\u2019t regret.\u00a0 Anything but that. And I won\u2019t regret this.
