Word of warning… technically, this piece is out of time. \u00a0If I followed the story’s timeline, we’d be roughly in April. \u00a0But, well, just work with it. \u00a0I wanted him to give her a Valentine. \u00a0It sounded fun.<\/p>\n

Also, this\u00a0is<\/em> just for fun–I wrote it in about fifteen minutes and read it through, but I didn’t send it to beta readers or anything so there probably are typos. \u00a0That’s fine. Pretty please, don’t feel the need to point them out. \u00a0Again, this was just for fun.<\/p>\n

Damon’s Valentine- Damon POV<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat are these?\u201d<\/p>\n

I looked at the flowers, feeling more than a little stupid as Kit stared at them.\u00a0 Her pretty green eyes were confused.\u00a0 Scowling, I shoved them into her hands.\u00a0 \u201cThey\u2019re called flowers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI know<\/i> that.\u201d\u00a0 She stroked a finger down the petal of one, her frown fading away.\u00a0 But she didn\u2019t smile.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d wanted to see her smile.<\/p>\n

She didn\u2019t do it enough.\u00a0 Not anymore.\u00a0 Not since\u2014<\/p>\n

Rage was a living, breathing thing in me and I had to wrap a stranglehold around it, shove into a box and smash it down.\u00a0 Don\u2019t.\u00a0 If you go there, she\u2019s gonna see.\u00a0 Calm the fuck down<\/i>.\u00a0 \u201cI had to go into Orlando.\u00a0 There were all these cards and shit.\u00a0 It\u2019s Valentine\u2019s Day.\u00a0 I just thought\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Now she looked up, her gaze meeting mine.<\/p>\n

\u201cValentine\u2019s Day.\u201d\u00a0 Now she smiled, but it was a weird one.\u00a0 She took a step toward me.\u00a0 My heart started to beat faster.\u00a0 My dick twitched\u2014it\u2019s like a reflex.\u00a0 Sometimes she just looks<\/i> at me and it happens.\u00a0 \u201cYou ever hear any of the real history behind it?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo.\u201d\u00a0 I didn\u2019t care.\u00a0 She\u2019d smiled.\u00a0 Even if it was over something weird, she\u2019d smiled.\u00a0 Lifting my hand, I rested it on the curve of her neck.\u00a0 I felt the ridges hidden under the ink\u2014poisoned flowers, a broken blade.\u00a0 Stroking my thumb along the hollow of her throat, I waited.\u00a0 Her faint smile widened into a dark, slightly twisted grin and I wanted to cover that wide, wicked mouth.\u00a0 Taste her. Strip her.<\/p>\n

\u201cValentine was some kind of priest.\u201d<\/p>\n

That had the fantasy I\u2019d been spinning stalling\u2014it didn\u2019t fade.\u00a0 It just slowed down.\u00a0 \u201cValentine\u2014he was a real guy?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah.\u00a0 It\u2019s human stuff so I don\u2019t know much about him, but they threw him in jail.\u00a0 He was performing marriages or something, if I remember right.\u00a0 Then they killed him.\u201d\u00a0 She lowered her head, studied the flowers.\u00a0 \u201cTrust humans to make up some sort weird holiday over a guy being jailed, then killed.\u201d<\/p>\n

She\u2019d gone still, in that way she did when she started to remember.\u00a0 Fuck.\u00a0 I\u2019d gone and reminded her.\u00a0 Not that she needed a reminder.\u00a0 She lived it.\u00a0 Bore the scars. \u00a0Slowly, I reached down and took the roses.\u00a0 \u201cMaybe it\u2019s not over him being jailed\u2026but why.\u00a0 It was for love.\u00a0 He believed in it, right?\u201d<\/p>\n

As I put the flowers down, she looked up at me.\u00a0 \u201cWow, Damon.\u00a0 That\u2019s almost\u2026romantic.\u00a0 Here you are, giving me flowers, spouting romantic thoughts.\u201d<\/p>\n

I tugged her against me.\u00a0 The feel of her did bad, bad things.\u00a0 Thought wanted to stop.\u00a0 I wanted her naked.\u00a0 Wanted bare skin under my hands.\u00a0 Wanted her wet and hot as I fucked her.<\/p>\n

I cupped her face.\u00a0 \u201cMaybe I just want you in a good mood.\u201d\u00a0 I pressed my mouth to hers.\u00a0 \u201cI probably want something.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d she asked, her voice wry, although it was going husky. \u201cLet me guess\u2026it involves me naked.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI pretty much always want you naked, baby girl.\u201d\u00a0 I brushed my mouth over hers, felt a growl building in me as she shuddered.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe we can arrange that.\u201d\u00a0 She slid her hands down my chest.\u00a0 My cock jerked like she\u2019d reached inside my pants instead.\u00a0 She tipped her head, smiling at me once more. \u201cI feel bad.\u00a0 You bought me a present. I don\u2019t have anything for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGet naked. That will work.\u201d\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t about to tell her that all I needed was to see her smile.\u00a0 Especially not when she was already reaching for the hem of her shirt.\u00a0\u00a0 Yeah, I wanted to see her smile\u2026but smiling and naked was even better.<\/p>\n
