Freckles sprinkled across her nose. A charming smile.<\/p>\n<p>And\u00a0.\u00a0.\u00a0. most gut-wrenching of all, Joss\u2019s voice\u00a0.\u00a0.\u00a0. I met her at the food court. She\u2019s here on vacation. Was supposed to come with a friend and the friend had to cancel. Nobody will be looking for her for the next ten days. When he spoke, there was an ugly, menacing hate in his voice.<\/p>\n<p>She stumbled and slammed a hand down, bracing it by the curving wall of the stairwell at her back as the memory burned itself into her brain, followed by another. And another.<\/p>\n<p>First there was a picture of a girl smiling at the camera. Then another, bound, gagged\u00a0.\u00a0.\u00a0. and glaring at the camera.<\/p>\n<p>The girl next door\u00a0.\u00a0.\u00a0.<\/p>\n<p>Patrick picturing the girl in a formal. Fuck\u00a0.\u00a0.\u00a0. bloody fuck. Dru knew that dress. It was the one he\u2019d selected for her bridesmaids. Of course, she didn\u2019t have any. He\u2019d said he\u2019d see to it\u00a0.\u00a0.\u00a0.<\/p>\n<p>This wasn\u2019t happening.<\/p>\n<p>A cruel hand gripped her arm, so at odds with Patrick\u2019s gentle voice as he inquired, \u201cElla, are you feeling unwell?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Swallowing back the bile that churned in her throat, she said softly, \u201cThe champagne, Patrick. I think it\u2019s gone to my head. Perhaps I should lie down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moments later, one of the house servants was at her side to escort her up the stairs.
