I proudly consider myself one of<a href=\"http:\/\/pbackwriter.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> SL Viehl<\/a>&#8216;s (aka PBW aka Lynn Viehl)\u00a0 first <span style=\"text-decoration:line-through;\">stalker<\/span> fans.\u00a0 Yeah, yeah, it might not be true, but I emailed her within a few weeks of Stardoc coming out.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t email authors.\u00a0 Or rather, back before I was pubbed, I didn&#8217;t really email authors.\u00a0 Just didn&#8217;t.\u00a0 At that point, I think I&#8217;d only emailed one other author-Nora Roberts.<\/p>\n<p>I emailed, gushed, praised, etc. etc.\u00a0 And I&#8217;ve been loitering around wherever her work can be found ever since, used to routinely check her old\u00a0 site on Sff.net, reading all the short stories she&#8217;d put out.\u00a0 I remember the first Darkyn story-Alex and Cyprien when it was mostly just a novella.\u00a0 Have her old Gena Hale books, her Jessica Hall books&#8230;okay, you get the point right?<\/p>\n<p>So I get this email.\u00a0 (warning&#8230; minor Crystal Healer spoilers below the cut&#8230;don&#8217;t read if you hate spoilers\/haven&#8217;t read\/etc)<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Marcy emails me:\u00a0 (emails posted w\/permission)<\/p>\n<p>Might you have been the author who said that you loved Ms. Viehl&#8217;s <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Star Doc<\/span> novels? I can&#8217;t decide whether to thank you for introduce me to a wonderful group of novels or not! Her books always end on a cliffhanger, which I can usually manage. I just finished <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Crystal Healer<\/span>, one of my favorite stories in the series with a cliffhanger that almost killed me! I simply don&#8217;t know how I&#8217;m going to wait for her next book! If you didn&#8217;t recommend her and you like space opera, <strong>I<\/strong> recommend her!<\/p>\n<p>Me:<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m am the original Stardoc junky.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 I&#8217;ve been stalking her since Stardoc first came out, I&#8217;m proud to say.\u00a0 And Crystal healer almost killed me.\u00a0 Seriously.\u00a0 I&#8217;m dying.\u00a0 Sigh.<\/p>\n<p>Marcy:<\/p>\n<p>Me too! What are we going to do until the next book is out? It will probably be a year! I just <strong>CAN&#8217;T<\/strong> wait to find out how Jarn left and Cherijo came back! Poor Duncan!<\/p>\n<p>Me:<\/p>\n<p>Hello, poor Cherijo.\u00a0 She loves him and she&#8217;s going to find out he&#8217;s in love with the other &#8216;self&#8217; that was her for a while.\u00a0\u00a0 Her last thoughts were of him and Marel.\u00a0 Sigh.\u00a0 That woman just loves to torture her characters and her readers.<\/p>\n<p>Marcy:<\/p>\n<p>Too true! *sigh*<\/p>\n<p>Me:<\/p>\n<p>Gee&#8230;. would you mind if i share this conversation?\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 Was thinking would be funny on blog.<\/p>\n<p>Marcy:<\/p>\n<p>Not in the least-I would be honored, and maybe we could get her new readers-and <strong>maybe<\/strong> she will read it and the next book will come out sooner!<\/p>\n<p>Me:<\/p>\n<p>nah&#8230; that ain&#8217;t gonna happen.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve already talked with her.\u00a0 We&#8217;re looking at a year.\u00a0 glum sigh.\u00a0 But I think it would amuse her.\u00a0 will probably write up for later this week or next.<\/p>\n<p>End of conversation.<\/p>\n<p>One author I regularly follow, one author who loves to leave people hanging.\u00a0 An author I love, period.\u00a0 Sigh.\u00a0 This waiting thing really sucks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A lot of people know I&#8217;m a total Stardoc junky.
