People on the Council are dying left and right and she\u2019s been requested to investigate the deaths. The number one suspect? Her lover, Damon. I made a face.\u00a0 Justin was a Banner cop now.\u00a0\u00a0 They\u2019d seduced him with the promises of\u00a0You get to kill things and we\u2019ll give you lots of weapons<\/em>.\u00a0 He liked weapons almost as much as I did.\u00a0 And he liked killing things\u2026well, when they needed killing.\u00a0 Justin was like a loaded gun, a good weapon and he was most efficient when he had a target.<\/p>\n \u201cCall me, set up a time, Kitty-kitty. Don\u2019t make me track you down, okay?\u00a0 You really do have to take this job\u2026trust me.\u201d<\/p>\n I sighed and rubbed the back of my neck.<\/p>\n Trust him.\u00a0 That was a problem.\u00a0 I did trust Justin.\u00a0 There weren\u2019t a lot of people I was willing to say that about but he was definitely one of them.<\/p>\n The message ended and I sat there, staring at nothing.<\/p>\n I trusted him, but I sure as hell didn\u2019t want to take any job that he might have to offer.<\/p>\n Jobs and Justin meant one thing.\u00a0 A connection to the Banner unit.\u00a0 The Banner units were exterminators.\u00a0 Non-human exterminators.\u00a0\u00a0 Banner cops, slang for the Bureau of American Non-Human Affairs\u2013were basically men and women like Justin, highly skilled, very deadly human who went out and eliminated the NHs who had been deemed too deadly to live.\u00a0 Generally, they didn\u2019t get to play much because us non-humans patrolled our own.\u00a0 That was the job the packs, the clans, the order of witches and the Assembly in general.\u00a0 But sometimes there were those who slipped past the ever-watchful eyes of the Assembly.<\/p>\n
