{"id":30656,"date":"2012-10-06T09:00:55","date_gmt":"2012-10-06T13:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shilohwalker.com\/website\/?p=30656"},"modified":"2012-10-13T12:28:53","modified_gmt":"2012-10-13T16:28:53","slug":"saturday-snippets-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shilohwalker.com\/website\/2012\/10\/saturday-snippets-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Saturday Snippets&#8230;WRECKED"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Best Friends&#8230; and oh, do I have a book for this one&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.shilohwalker.com\/website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/snippet.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-30657 aligncenter\" title=\"snippet\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.shilohwalker.com\/website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/snippet-300x224.jpg?resize=300%2C224\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.shilohwalker.com\/website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/snippet.jpg?resize=300%2C224&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.shilohwalker.com\/website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/snippet.jpg?resize=1024%2C766&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.shilohwalker.com\/website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/snippet.jpg?resize=200%2C150&amp;ssl=1 200w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.shilohwalker.com\/website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/snippet.jpg?w=1366&amp;ssl=1 1366w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is from\u00a0<em><a title=\"Wrecked\" href=\"http:\/\/www.shilohwalker.com\/website\/whats-new\/wrecked\/\">Wrecked<\/a><\/em> (previously titled\u00a0<em>Wreck This Life<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should stop.\u201d\u00a0 Her body shrieked out at the very idea of it.\u00a0 So did just about every other part of her.\u00a0 Hell, even her mind wasn\u2019t getting onboard with the idea of <em>stopping<\/em>.\u00a0 She closed her eyes.\u00a0 \u201cShouldn\u2019t we?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He rubbed his cheek against her skin.\u00a0 \u201cIs that what you want?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>No<\/em>.\u00a0 Terror locked the word in her throat.\u00a0 Yes, she\u2019d been the one to kiss him and yes, she wanted more, so much more.\u00a0 Lately, the things she seemed to want from Zach terrified her.\u00a0 But he was her best friend.\u00a0 There was nobody she loved more than him, nobody who meant more.\u00a0 He was\u2026everything.<\/p>\n<p>What if she lost that?<\/p>\n<p>The weight of his head left her breast and she opened her eyes to find him watching her, that measuring, steady gaze.\u00a0 \u201cAbs\u2026\u201d He stroked a hand along her cheek, cupped her face in his palm.<\/p>\n<p>Licking her lips, she nudged him back. \u201cLet me up a minute,\u201d she whispered.<\/p>\n<p>Something flashed through his eyes.\u00a0 It might have been disappointment, she thought.\u00a0\u00a0 But she was afraid to think about it too long.<\/p>\n<p>As he eased away, she shifted away from him and climbed off the bed to pace.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019d like say something like this is crazy.\u00a0 Except I kissed you so it\u2019s not like this came out of nowhere,\u201d she muttered, shoving her hair back from her face.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre you trying to tell me you wish you hadn\u2019t kissed me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She shot him a look and then wished she hadn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>Wow.<\/p>\n<p>How in the hell hadn\u2019t she noticed this before\u2026<\/p>\n<p>He sat with his back pressed against her headboard.\u00a0 The walls of her bedroom were pale green and the headboard was white.\u00a0 The boards were reclaimed wood and the overall feel of her room was a shabby chic look, feminine without being too fussy.\u00a0 Zach should have looked incredibly out of place on her bed, with his beat-up jeans, the black T-shirt.\u00a0 But he didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>He looked like he belonged there.\u00a0 In her room.\u00a0 With her.<\/p>\n<p>With that faint smile on his face, that intimate, watchful look in his eyes.\u00a0 The vivid color of his tattoos wound around his arms and she found herself wanting to pull his shirt off and learn the detail of those tattoos in ways she\u2019d never done before.<\/p>\n<p>He was too beautiful for words.<\/p>\n<p>Logically, she <em>knew<\/em> that.\u00a0 She\u2019d appreciated the sheer beauty of him before.\u00a0 But <em>knowing<\/em> it and having it hit her like were two very different things.\u00a0 Her belly, all hot and tight, twisted with need as she stood there staring at him and it took her a few more seconds to remember that he\u2019d asked her something.
