Today’s Saturday Snippet… it’s all about family. \u00a0(there’s also been some questions about Broken, and since Fragile comes first…well, it’s a nice seque. \u00a0Question is answered at the bottom!)<\/p>\n

Set – up… Luke is former military…they just buried a friend. \u00a0Quinn is his twin brother.<\/em><\/p>\n

Luke found Quinn in his cramped apartment two miles away, soaked to the bone and sitting on the floor in the living room.\u00a0 He still wore his Class A uniform, the tie askew, jacket unbuttoned.\u00a0 His head rested against the couch and he didn\u2019t stir even when Luke flicked on the lights and came to sit down beside him.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou regret leaving?\u201d Quinn asked after a while.<\/p>\n

Luke shook his head, replied softly, \u201cNo.\u201d\u00a0 He shrugged restlessly, his eyes roaming over the bare walls of the apartment.\u00a0 No pictures, no calendars, nothing but bare white walls.\u00a0 Empty.\u00a0 \u201cI miss you.\u00a0 Sometimes the guys.\u00a0 But I don\u2019t regret leaving.\u201d<\/p>\n

Quinn closed his eyes. \u201cI\u2019m glad you\u2019re gone.\u00a0 Today, saying bye to Adam\u2013kept thinking if you\u2019d stayed, it could have been you we\u2019d been burying.\u00a0 Four of us, man, four of us gone and I keep thinking I\u2019m damn glad my brother ain\u2019t with us any more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luke snorted.\u00a0 \u201cYeah, and I keep worrying I\u2019ll get a knock on my door.\u00a0 I don\u2019t want to bury you, Quinn.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou won\u2019t.\u201d\u00a0 There was an odd edge to his voice and Luke glanced over, saw a weird light glittering in his brother\u2019s eyes.\u00a0 \u201cDying\u2019s too easy.\u00a0 I don\u2019t ever get the easy way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJeb said a woman got killed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Quinn jerked like somebody had stabbed him with a branding iron, coming off the ground in one fast move.\u00a0 He crossed the room in long, erratic strides, coming to a stop by the wall where he braced his hands against it and lowered his head.\u00a0 \u201cDon\u2019t, Luke.\u00a0 I\u2013I can\u2019t…\u2026\u201d his voice broke.<\/p>\n

Grief swamped him, all but broke him.\u00a0 Luke could feel it radiating off his twin, could the echo of it swarming through him as he slowly stood.\u00a0 Quinn edged away as he heard Luke coming, spun around and gave him a wild eyed stare.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeave it alone, damn it,\u201d he snarled.\u00a0 \u201cGet the hell away from me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luke shook his head.\u00a0 \u201cYou know I can\u2019t.\u00a0 You want to get mad, go ahead.\u00a0 But I\u2019m not leaving.\u201d<\/p>\n

Quinn abruptly sagged to his knees.\u00a0 Luke settled down beside him and as Quinn started to cry, he slid an arm around his twin\u2019s shoulders, felt the sting of tears burn his own eyes.<\/p>\n

For the longest time, there was no sound but Quinn\u2019s low, harsh sobs.\u00a0 Then they faded away to erratic, unsteady breaths…\u2026and then silence.<\/p>\n

Then probably not. \u00a0 So, um…well? \u00a0GO BUY! \u00a0\ud83d\ude09 If you want to. \u00a0But, in all honesty, it does boil down to\u00a0Fragile<\/strong><\/em>‘s success. \u00a0The better it does? \u00a0The more likely you all will be to see the second book in mass market. \u00a0You can preorder here…<\/p>\n
