But as he stopped in the microscopic health and beauty section\u2014crap, why did they put men\u2019s deodorant in the beauty section\u2014he found himself in front of the display of condoms.<\/p>\n<p>Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit.<\/p>\n<p>He did not need condoms for a friendly relationship.<\/p>\n<p>Once more, his focus was right back on her, and this time it had nothing to do with the strange mystery of the screams and everything to do with the shape of her mouth, the round curve of her ass, and the weird way he found his heart skipping when she stood close.\u00a0 The way he smiled when she laughed, and the way his chest ached when he saw that sad look on her face.<\/p>\n<p>It was almost like the way he felt when he\u2019d first started dating Stacy Traynor back in high school\u2014first major crush\u2014that hot, fiery burn of young love.<\/p>\n<p>But the deal with Lena?\u00a0 It was worse.\u00a0 Way worse.<\/p>\n<p>Shifting his weight away from his stiffening right leg, he grabbed a box of Trojans and threw them in his handheld basket before stalking out of the aisle.\u00a0 Fine.\u00a0 So what?\u00a0 He\u2019d bought a box of condoms\u2014he was being practical.\u00a0 Nothing else.<\/p>\n<p>Just practical.<\/p>\n<p>Except he was having a hard time thinking about practical when it came to thinking about sex and Lena at the same time.\u00a0 It gave him the weird sensation of burning his brain cells\u2014causing little microscopic implosions\u2014he could almost hear the neurons going up, one by one.<\/p>\n<p>In self-defense, he started thinking about something else\u2014and the best way to distract himself was to focus on the puzzle.\u00a0 The screams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot likely a car wreck.\u00a0 Pretty much out of the question,\u201d he muttered.<\/p>\n<p>There would have been records at one of the local hospitals, a vehicle, even just the sign of an accident, something.<\/p>\n<p>They could mark that off.<\/p>\n<p>Missing person?
