the book despite the book"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ever read a book that was annoying the snot out of you but you couldn&#8217;t put it down?\u00a0 Generally if I&#8217;m not enjoying a book, I don&#8217;t bother finishing it.<\/p>\n<p>(FYI, don&#8217;t ask what book\/what author\/etc, cuz I&#8217;m not telling&#8230;I didn&#8217;t put it on Goodreads or anything else, either.\u00a0 This just my rule, because it makes my life easier and I&#8217;m all for easy).<\/p>\n<p>I just don&#8217;t like to mess with a book if I&#8217;m not enjoying it.\u00a0 Now I don&#8217;t have to <em>love<\/em> it.\u00a0 I just have to enjoy it.\u00a0 But I started reading a book on Christmas and the first&#8230;I dunno&#8230;<em>third<\/em>?\u00a0 Was pretty good.\u00a0 Even though I saw some serious flaws with the worldbuilding.\u00a0 Even though I was thinking&#8230;.<em>oooooh-kay<\/em> with the how-zits and what-fors of the creatures in this world.\u00a0 I was enjoying it.<\/p>\n<p>But about about the first third, those flaws and howzits became a little too, well, much.\u00a0 They were <em>annoying<\/em> me.\u00a0 I kept thinking &#8216;<em>damn it, this is just crap.\u00a0 No way.\u00a0 NOT making sense.<\/em>&#8216;<em> <\/em>There was a mock-fight scene with the heroine learning how to train against the baddies of this world and she starts kicking butt and I was hard-pressed not to laugh.\u00a0 I <em>should<\/em> have just thrown the book against the wall-nice thing about paper versus E.\u00a0 You can still throw the book.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t, though.\u00a0 I kept reading.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>Because as annoying as the book was, and as flawed as this author&#8217;s world-building was&#8230;I wanted to see how it ended.\u00a0 I guess that&#8217;s saying something for the author&#8217;s storytelling.\u00a0 Even as much as her world annoyed me, I wanted to see how it ended.<\/p>\n<p>Ever read a book like that?\u00a0 I can&#8217;t say I want to do it again, because I&#8217;m still annoyed with myself for finishing it.\u00a0 And&#8230;um&#8230;I even gave it to my nephew to see if he&#8217;d enjoy it&#8230;lol.\u00a0 Sharing the insanity, so to speak.<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.shilohwalker.com\/website\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/dreamstimefree_2759971.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
