I’m agent hunting. <\/span> No longer agent hunting.\u00a0 This post was originally written on Wednesday or Thursday, and as of this morning, actually as of 10:30 am, Friday morning, I have an agent.\u00a0 As in like ten minutes ago.\u00a0 Oddly enough, I can also breathe again and I’m sitting here with a smile on my face. And before anybody asks, I can’t talk about that rabbit <\/span><\/em>just yet…gimme a little more time.\u00a0 Maybe before the year is out.\u00a0 Gotta see what happens.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n I still have the vague, undefined rabbit that I can’t really talk about yet.<\/p>\n Now, I’m also insane.<\/p>\n See the common thread here?<\/p>\n This is my first serious agent hunt.\u00a0 My previous agent came recommended by a friend and we were together right around four years.<\/p>\n Just like pretty much everything else in this business, I’m fumbling along.\u00a0 Fumbling along into getting published, into getting into print, into getting an agent, etc, etc, etc.\u00a0 Never ask me for advice on how to do things.\u00a0 I never really know how I do things.\u00a0 Which is why I start pestering friends at odd hours.\u00a0 Some poor friends of mine go weeks or months without an IM, and then somebody pushes the panic button and I’m lighting up the IM of every writer friend I have.\u00a0 I email ad nauseum, ad infinitum, and just keep on going.<\/p>\n So how do you go about searching for a new agent?\u00a0 Because I really need this new agent, and I can’t do anything about certain things…like…oh, say…rabbits…until I have an agent.\u00a0 Well, I could<\/em>.\u00a0 But I don’t wanna.\u00a0 Since I haven’t really done much of an agent search before, and I’m not entirely sure exactly what I’m doing…I start scouring the net, talking to friends.<\/p>\n Questions I’m asking the agents that I’m talking to…<\/p>\n Do you use a hands-on type of approach and offer editorial-type input?<\/em><\/p>\n
