Lots of people have them.\u00a0 I mean&#8230; <em>I<\/em> have two others.<\/p>\n<p>No.\u00a0 She really <em>is<\/em> that much of a handful.\u00a0 She really is <em>that<\/em>&#8230;er, well, anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of just relating more head&#8211;&gt;desk stories, let me explain some other things.\u00a0 Things like&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I go into the school to pick up something for my other kid and I get laughter.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know <em>why<\/em>&#8230; baby bratlet isn&#8217;t <em>with<\/em> me and she doesn&#8217;t go to school there.\u00a0 But she&#8217;s there when the sitter picks up the monster.\u00a0 And she does things like flirts with every male in the building.\u00a0 She runs around and makes eyes at people.\u00a0 She wraps everybody around her finger.\u00a0 I cant&#8217; even get <em>explanations<\/em> for why I get laughter, but it has something to do with baby bratlet.<\/p>\n<p>I go to preschool to pick her up?\u00a0 I get laughter.\u00a0 Now I&#8217;ve <em>watched<\/em>-other parents don&#8217;t <em>get<\/em> this.\u00a0 But I do.\u00a0 Finally I asked and well&#8230; baby bratlet just keeps them laughing.\u00a0 She&#8217;s not <em>bad<\/em>, although she&#8217;s very &#8216;me&#8217; centric, still.\u00a0 But she&#8217;s&#8230;<em>unique<\/em>.\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 Unique.\u00a0\u00a0 She amuses them.\u00a0 A lot.\u00a0 And still, they can&#8217;t quite tell me exactly <em>what<\/em> she does or says that amuses them so much-it&#8217;s just <em>her<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>And yes-I get <em>unique<\/em> about her <em>all the time. <\/em>I&#8217;m not just saying this as her mama.\u00a0 I&#8217;m saying this as somebody who has worked with kids for going on twelve years.<\/p>\n<p>We had concerns about her speech when she was coming up on three.\u00a0 So we asked about getting her testing.\u00a0 Within five minutes, the therapists are all but rolling their eyes-yes, her speech isn&#8217;t clear, but it&#8217;s because her <em>brain<\/em> already has the vocabulary of a five or six year old and her mouth isn&#8217;t quite ready, physically, to form the words her head knows.\u00a0 So we can&#8217;t understand.<\/p>\n<p>At Lora Leigh&#8217;s RAW event?\u00a0 While we were setting up for the first booksigning, before the readers had come in, I let the kids in there to wander a bit before I sent them off with my friend, Lime, who had (foolishly) agreed to watch them for me (in exchange for me paying for her way\/food\/booze).\u00a0 Jim Butcher is there and he is watching baby bratlet and he makes this comment&#8230; <em>that girl sure is cute, but she&#8217;s got way too much energy<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>More proof that&#8217;s she is&#8230; ah&#8230; unusual?\u00a0 I had accidentally left a lancet in my pocket earlier this week when I was helping out at the doctor&#8217;s office.\u00a0 She <em>wanted<\/em> me to poke her finger.\u00a0 <em>Knowing<\/em> it would hurt.\u00a0 She didn&#8217;t care.\u00a0 She wanted to see what the thing did and how it would feel.\u00a0 O.o\u00a0 She is four&#8230; and she wants her finger poked.<\/p>\n<p>But in case constant raised eyebrows, her wanting to get her finger poked, &#8216;unique&#8217; comments aren&#8217;t enough&#8230; let me explain her to you like this.<\/p>\n<p>Many of you who visit my blog have probably gathered a few things about me&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not shy.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t back away from confrontation, even though I do understand some need for diplomacy.\u00a0 Even though I don&#8217;t always care for it, I realize there&#8217;s also a need in life for caution.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I&#8217;ve learned to&#8230; ah&#8230; curb my tongue.\u00a0 Not just online, but in general.<\/p>\n<p>Now&#8230; imagine a flirtatious mini-<em>me<\/em> in <em>concentrated<\/em> miniature form with absolutely <em>no<\/em> sense of danger, <em>no<\/em> idea of caution and <strong><em>absolutely no brakes<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the baby bratlet.\u00a0 And people wonder why I bang my head.\u00a0 I love her dearly and wouldn&#8217;t trade her for anything.\u00a0 But she just may put me in the funny farm.
