Her boyfriend Brogan is all about control and she\u2019s all about breaking through his barriers. Except she can\u2019t seem to do it. Unwilling to settle for only part of him, she takes off, figuring it\u2019s better that way. After all, half of a relationship is worse than none. She settles in with her best friend, hot and sexy photographer Lou, figuring she\u2019ll lick her wounds and give her heart time to heal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Finding Lacey gone is a punch to the gut. Finding her with another guy is even worse. She isn\u2019t interested in listening to what he has to say, though. Not unless he\u2019s willing to strip himself bare and give up pieces of himself that died long ago.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Brogan can\u2019t do that. Or so he thinks. Lacey and Lou have other plans, a hot, torrid night, some hot, sexy pictures\u2026 Lacey is determined to show Brogan a new way of seeing things.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cCan I call you later?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cI don\u2019t see why you should bother,\u201d Lacey said quietly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cBecause we need to talk.\u201d Turning back to her, he focused on her face. Seeing her soothed that raw, ragged ache inside him but at the same time, it just made it worse because he realized he wasn\u2019t going to be able to get her back, not as he\u2019d hoped.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He was just now realizing how much he\u2019d needed to get her back.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He thought he <i>cared<\/i> about her?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It was so much more than that and he hadn\u2019t even seen it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This was an ache inside him, one that kept him awake at night, that lived within him constantly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">She was still standing next to Lou but now she reached up, stroked the hand resting on one shoulder. Then she eased away, coming to stand a few inches away from him. So close that he could smell the soft scent of her skin, close enough that he could see the freckles on her nose. Close enough that he could just lean in and their lips would touch.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Yet miles stood between them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cWhy?\u201d Lacey\u2019s eyes were sad. \u201cWhat\u2019s there to talk about? You keep me on the outside, Brogan, and no matter how much I tell you that I want in, you won\u2019t listen. I tell you what I need, what I want, and you pat me on the head like I\u2019m a child. You only share the bits and pieces of yourself that you <i>think<\/i> I can handle. You won\u2019t let me have you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">She shook her head. \u201cI\u2019m done with that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cLacey\u2026damn it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cNo.\u201d Tears glinted in her eyes but she blinked them away. \u201cThis has been coming for a long time and what happened at Tracks that night was the last straw. You want me on your terms\u2026and I guess part of me can understand that. But your terms aren\u2019t fair. You want the <i>me<\/i> you think you know. And that woman isn\u2019t <i>me<\/i>. Here are my terms. You take <i>all<\/i> of me, however you want me, and give me <i>all<\/i> of you. But you won\u2019t do that. So this isn\u2019t happening.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><i>All of me\u2026 <\/i>That echoed through him. <i>All<\/i> of Lacey. However he wanted her. Possessiveness, need, the emotions that hit him, so deep and fast, it was more than he could analyze.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Especially considering she had turned away.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Especially considering the little bit she\u2019d added on\u2026 <i>Give me all of you\u2026<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><i>I can\u2019t do that\u2014<\/i>Terror gripped him. He couldn\u2019t do that\u2014couldn\u2019t.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Then he watched as she went back to the other man\u2019s side. Stopped, rested a hand against his chest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They spoke but he couldn\u2019t hear a word they were saying over the roaring in his ears. All he could see was her turning her back on him. Walking away. Just as he\u2019d turned his back on her a dozen times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><i>Give me all of you.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><i>I can\u2019t do that<\/i>,<i> <\/i>he thought again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Lacey was leaving the room now. Walking away from him.
