At his job, Luke is faced with things just as heartbreaking as those on the battlefield, none more so than the abused children brought in by a pretty red-headed social worker.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>HEARTBROKEN<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For Devon Manning, being a social worker is a rewarding job, but also a constant reminder of her own troubled youth. Devon takes everything one day at a time\u2014unable to form a relationship with anyone except the children she rescues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>A DESIRE TO HEAL\u2026<\/strong> When Luke meets Devon, he thinks he might have found what he\u2019s been looking for, but in order to get the life he wants, Luke has to break through Devon\u2019s emotional barriers and make her realize that his healing touch might be just the complication her life needs\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cSo if you\u2019re not here for to watch football, why are you here?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Devon scanned the crowd and then shot him a grin.\u00a0 \u201cYou, being a guy and all, might not have noticed that outside this steakhouse with the loud TVs, wonderful wings and cold beer, there\u2019s this nifty thing called a mall.\u00a0 There are lots of stores\u2013bookstores, music stores, shoe stores, stores where you can buy all sorts of girly stuff like lotion and clothes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Luke grinned at her. \u201cSo you\u2019re shopping?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cThe coming of fall also means end of the season clearance.\u201d\u00a0 She rolled her eyes.\u00a0 \u201cI just spent half of next week\u2019s paycheck and I haven\u2019t even gotten it yet.\u00a0 I\u2019m kind of bad about that.\u201d\u00a0 She shot him a small grin and shrugged.\u00a0 \u201cI have an addictive personality.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Crooking a brow at her, Luke repeated, \u201cAn addictive personality.\u00a0 Addicted to what?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Devon smiled.\u00a0 \u201cOh, all sorts of things.\u00a0 Books.\u00a0 That girly stuff, lotion and stuff.\u00a0 Shoes\u2013oh, man, shoes.\u00a0 I love shoes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">He craned his head around a little and glanced under the table.\u00a0 She had on a pair of glittery, strappy heels.\u00a0 Pretty feet, too.\u00a0 Her toenails were red.\u00a0 He hadn\u2019t ever thought that he was the foot fetish type, but Luke had an overpowering desire to see her wearing those shoes\u2013just the shoes&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><strong><a
