The stillness and the silence bothered him a  \t\t\t\t\t\tgreat deal. In  the years  \t\t\t\t\t\tsince he had left Williamsburg, he hadn\u2019t often thought  \t\t\t\t\t\tof Mercy, but when he did, he thought of the wily,  \t\t\t\t\t\tdemanding child with tangled hair, big eyes and a mean  \t\t\t\t\t\tstreak.\u00a0 A <em>wide <\/em>mean streak.<\/p>\n<p>It was taking some time to acclimate himself  to this  \t\t\t\t\t\tsad, solemn eyed woman.
