Only one way to find out<\/em>.\u00a0 Sylvia drew one of her throwing knives\u2014one of the smaller ones she could hide in the palm of her hand.\u00a0 He wouldn\u2019t be able to see it, although she still didn\u2019t know if it would do her a hell of a lot of good against him.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wouldn\u2019t stop her from trying.<\/span><\/p>\n

Squaring her shoulders, she pushed the door open, braced herself.\u00a0 The attic room was empty\u2014she\u2019d known it would be.\u00a0 Still, his scent was strong.\u00a0 Very strong.\u00a0 A silvery band of moonlight fell in through in an open window and she stared at it before following it along the floor to the open window.\u00a0 She\u2019d slept until moonrise.\u00a0 Shit.\u00a0 Why had that happened?\u00a0 She never slept that late anymore.\u00a0 She couldn\u2019t take sunlight, but generally by twilight, she was up and moving.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also, she hadn\u2019t left that window open.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stroking the edge of her knife with her thumb, she eased her way into the darker shadows of the room.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even before she saw the moonlight shining off his pale hair, she knew.<\/span><\/p>\n

He was down there, in the backyard, waiting for her.\u00a0 And damn it.\u00a0 He\u2019d hauled her bike out.\u00a0 Bastard.\u00a0 He was leaning against it, leather stretching over those long thighs, a black T-shirt clinging to his lean chest.\u00a0 He had that blond hair pulled back in a neat tail at the nape of his neck and he looked good enough to eat.\u00a0 In many, many ways.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her fangs pulsed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lower, much lower, other things pulsed.\u00a0 Because she knew he\u2019d be aware, she figured she\u2019d hide one hunger within another. Standing in the open window sill, keeping her knife hand free, she murmured, \u201cOh, look<\/em>.\u00a0 It\u2019s Meals on Wheels.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He grinned at her.\u00a0 And then he leaped. Sylvia fell back, moving away from the window even as part of her wished she could stand there and just watch him move\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n

She pulled another knife, but didn\u2019t bother hiding that one.\u00a0 He\u2019d go for the one she\u2019d left in open view, she hoped.<\/span><\/p>\n

He came through the window, almost silent, a grin on his lips, his blue eyes glinting with humor.\u00a0 That hot, rich scent of his flooded her head and suddenly, she had to swallow.\u00a0 It was that, or start drooling.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDelivery service.\u201d\u00a0 She waggled her knife at him.\u00a0 \u201cI like that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThat mouth of yours ever get you in trouble, Sylvia?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She shrugged lazily.\u00a0 \u201cA time or two.\u00a0 You know, I don\u2019t like strangers touching my bike.\u201d\u00a0 Actually, she didn\u2019t like anybody<\/em> touching her bike.\u00a0 \u201cWhat\u2019s your name?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead of answering, his eyes dropped to her knife.\u00a0 \u201cYou know, if you greeted the real Meals on Wheels<\/em> that way, we\u2019d have a problem.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWell, since you\u2019re not actually on the menu, it\u2019s not an issue.\u201d\u00a0 She eyed him narrowly. He wasn\u2019t armed.\u00a0 Or at least, he wasn\u2019t holding any weapons.\u00a0 He probably had<\/em> weapons.\u00a0 He wouldn\u2019t go out to Hunt without them.\u00a0 But he wasn\u2019t holding any.\u00a0 She could see his hands, open.\u00a0 Empty.\u00a0 Unlike hers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although, hello<\/em>, he was a werewolf\u2014in a matter of seconds, he turned into a fucking weapon.<\/span><\/p>\n
