Hunter’s Pride<\/h4>\n

Unable to pretend it was just her imagination any more, Kennedy sat up and turned to stare in the direction of the door.\u00a0 It was so damned dark in there\u2014she could barely make out the dark shape standing in the shadows.<\/p>\n

His eyes, though\u2026she could see his eyes, flashing at her in the dark.\u00a0 Golden, glowing, eerie as hell\u2014<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cats you\u2019ve been looking for\u2014why?\u201d<\/p>\n

Kennedy blinked.\u00a0 She hadn\u2019t said a damn thing to anybody.\u00a0 How in the hell did he know?<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2026ah\u2014I\u2019m not looking for any cats,\u201d Kennedy said, and she cursed as she heard how wobbly her voice was, how weak and pathetic she sounded.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t give me that.\u00a0 I saw you in the forest\u2014I know you\u2019ve been looking for them.\u00a0 Why?\u201d<\/p>\n

Ooookay\u2026\u00a0 Kennedy licked her lips as she shifted on the bed.\u00a0 \u201cDo you mind turning on the light?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Narrowing her eyes, she demanded, \u201cOkay, how about telling me who in the hell you are and how you got in here?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI picked the lock.\u201d\u00a0 She thought for a second she heard the slightest bit of humor in that deep, grumbly voice.\u00a0 The sound of it made shivers run up and down her spine, but she didn\u2019t really feel afraid.\u00a0 Not any more.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd\u2026?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd what?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWho in the hell are you?\u201d she snapped, exasperated.\u00a0 She sure as hell couldn\u2019t place that gruff voice and it was too damned dark for her to see\u2014although his eyes, they continued to gleam at her.<\/p>\n
