She saw a slight tightening around his eyes from the pain he was no doubt in as she mentally shoved at him.<\/p>\n<p>Guilt came and went.<\/p>\n<p>All the jackasses who had come to her door lately, and she had kept to physical violence with them, even though they made it obvious they knew what she was.<\/p>\n<p>But with Micah, she didn\u2019t hold back. She shoved with all the power of her mind. But he didn\u2019t move.<\/p>\n<p>Swallowing, she focused and drew the raw power back inside her, watching he relaxed slightly.<\/p>\n<p>Quieter now, she said, \u201cGo away, Micah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shaking his head, he said quietly, \u201cI can\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can make you,\u201d she countered, arching a brow at him.<\/p>\n<p>He nodded, a slow, thoughtful nod, as he agreed, \u201cYou could. But then they will do something you won\u2019t like. You have to help them, otherwise you\u2019re going to be hurt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her face fell as his words sank in.<\/p>\n<p>He was here because of them, her unwelcome guests over the past week. Lifelessly, she said, \u201cI guess it was too much to hope you came back because of us, huh?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUs?\u201d he repeated softly. \u201cThere is no us, remember?
