Goodreads V. Shelfari

So.  A question…. Goodreads or Shelfari.

Which do you use and why… pretty please answer…please? And I’m not asking just so I can spam you all more effectively.  😉  I’ll spam you all through here.

Also… more on BEG ME… no, I’m still not sure when it’s going to show elsewhere besides Smashwords & Kindle-again, it does appear as though the book has gone through Smashwords’ premium catalog approval, so now it’s up to the other outlets, namely BN, Sony, Kobo-sometimes these places are just slow to upload and I have no control over this.

  1. I use goodreads, but only because I don’t know shelfari very well yet. I would love to see what other people have to say about this because I’ve been wondering the same thing.

  2. I use Shelfari but just because I saw it in other people’s signatures on a forum so I went to have a look and registered myself. I don’t know goodreads so I really can comment about it..

  3. I moved from LibraryThing to Goodreads. (Me on Goodreads) It seems to have a really lively community, and I love the updates from my friends with all the book cover thumbnails, seeing what they’ve added, when they review, etc. I like tools they have for authors, too. I’ve never been to Shelfari, so I’d love to see what people have to say about it.

  4. I have accounts with LibraryThing, Goodreads and Shelfari.

I started with LT and Shelfari, but now I use only Goodreads. It just seems easier to use, and they have more people and groups that I am interested in.

I say if you are looking to do only one, go where the most people that are going to be interested in your books, which in my opinion is Goodreads (after using all three briefly)

  5. I use Goodreads. Only because a forum I belong to recommends that site, so I followed the crowd. I have heard of Shelfari, but never checked out their site.

  6. I too have an account with all three. My order of prefernce is LibraryThing, GoodReads then Shelfari. I do more with LT and GoodReads than Shelfari least right now.

  7. I have an account at both but I am forever and constantly using Goodreads. I catalogue my books, swap books, review books, recommend books, share events I have going on at my blog…

I started with Goodreads, then LibraryThing and lastly Shelfari. I don’t like that LT limits the amount of books you can have to 200 (then you can pay to have more).

  8. I’ve never been on Shelfari, but I do have an account with Goodreads and I use it all the time. I like keeping track of the books I’ve read and my TBR books, and try to enter a short review for each book I read.

  9. I used LibraryThing first and then my interest in it waned completely (for some reason I never got into it). I just use Goodreads now and use it constantly.

  10. I use Goodreads. I signed up for LT, but to me was not user friendly. I really like GR for its groups, the friends you make and the way you can group your tooks, i.e. “to read” “to buy”, etc.

  11. Goodreads for me. I came across it in another group, and have friended a bunch of gals. I find it easy to use and like the groups. I have not heard of the others.

  12. I use Goodreads, too. All I was looking for was a place to track my reads, and I found a rich community where I can see what my friends are reading and I can get as involved (or not… mostly not) as I want.

  13. I use Goodreads & Shelfari – They both have different things going for them and I enjoy having different references and feedback about books.

  14. I use Goodreads. I love it. Its a great resource for books. This is the first I’ve heard of Shelfari or LibraryThing. I’ll have to take a look into them.

  15. I haven’t tried Shelfari; I looked at LT but it didn’t seem like a good fit for me. Some friends recommended Goodreads so I looked into. I signed up and use it much more than I expected, though I don’t make full use of evereything that it offers.

I like being able to organize my books, pretty much any way I want; I like being able to write reviews but I don;t have to; I like baing able to read other people’s reviews; there are groups and interests to get involved in; you can publicize events at your blog (though I haven’t yet); I like that I can use goodreads as an alternative info source to amazon to get info about books and authors.

I find goodreads to be very versatile, and user-friendly. I like it a lot.

  16. I like both LibraryThing and Goodreads. (I would like LT more if it had an iPhone app.) I have tried Shelfari and didn’t like the interface. That was a while ago, though, and I haven’t been back, so if they made any major changes since then to help people like me enjoy it more, I have no idea.

I like the read/currently-reading/want to read lits that Goodread has as a default. That’s where I store my TBR list. I use LT more for my actual book collection, and GR for a list of the things I’ve read, whether I own a copy or not.
