I’ve been trying to think about something to do for PBW’s LB&LI she’s got planned for this summer.

I’m going to be gone, but hey, with the wonders of wordpress, I can still participate. Load it early, and let people know I’ll respond to any comments or questions when I’m home. Assuming people ask anything. 😐

But I’m not the world-building genius that she is. I’m not the fast-draft pro that Jordan Summers is.

I can do dialogue well enough, I think. But I do dialogue generally the same way I talk. I hear the voices in my head and if it sounds stupid, I don’t put it down-I find a different way to say it. Kind of hard to make a workshop out of that, or at least for me. Granted, workshop sounds frighteningly organized and maybe I’m terrified and doing a mental block thing.

One thing I do a decent amount of is short stories and novellas. I’m thinking I might do a workshop on that, getting characterization down and establishing intimacy in the span of a novella-length romance. It’s absolutely possible to get a believable, enjoyable story in a short word count. Whether people think I can do them or not, I don’t know, but I’ve seen other writers use the same methods I use, and I’ve enjoyed their stuff, so I know the methods of madness can work.

For the writers out there…anybody interested?
